The Academy

Designed for gifted students who thrive in a highly engaging learning environment, the academy personalizes students’ education by merging individual’s academic talents and interests with advanced college preparatory coursework and mentorship opportunities.

The academy accepts qualified students who have completed 6th grade curriculum and are 12 years of age by December 31st of the current school year. Students at the academy experience a broad-minded, paradigm-shifting education.

Herberger Academy scholars engage with dedicated instructors in a small and caring community, with the resources available at a major research university. Upon enrolling in the academy, students first become immersed in integrated middle school level curriculum at an accelerated pace. They then complete high school credits while exploring and pursuing their intellectual interests through coursework and connections made accessible at Arizona State University.

Students earn a Grand Canyon High School Diploma, part of the Move On When Ready initiative.  The Center for the Future of Arizona, a non-profit organization, selected by the State Board of Education oversees Arizona schools' adaptation of approved Move On When Ready instructional systems.  Grand Canyon High School Diploma is designed to increase student academic achievement to national and international levels, and prepare all students to take the next step in their educational career.  For more information visit the Center for the Future of Arizona/Move On When Ready website at http://www.arizonafuture.org/mowr.
