Welcome to Herberger Young Scholars Academy!
Welcome to the Gary K. Herberger Young Scholars Academy!

We are so excited that you are taking a few minutes to learn more about our unique program for highly gifted students.

More than a decade ago, Gary and Jeanne Herberger took their first steps in realizing their vision of a different kind of school; a school designed specifically for highly gifted learners. Of this vision, Gary simply said, “I dream of a place where our most promising children can realize their true potential — a place where they can play, create, inspire, and innovate.” From the seeds these words inspired, the Gary K. Herberger Young Scholars Academy has grown into a place where young gifted learners thrive and, following in the footsteps of our namesake, develop into the leaders of tomorrow.

The academy, located on the grounds of Arizona State University’s West Valley Campus,  provides highly gifted learners a school experience best suited to their unique needs. A Cambridge International school, with early entry into Arizona State University, Herberger Young Scholars creates an environment where students can explore areas of interest and develop advanced skills and understanding far beyond what is available in a typical school environment. From accelerated middle and high school content to advanced University coursework, including opportunities to work with ASU professors through our mentorship program, Herberger Young Scholars Academy gifted students are encouraged to explore, express and evolve as learners and community members, in preparation for their future academic and life experiences.

At Herberger Young Scholars Academy, gifted kids still get to be kids. Students are surrounded by like-minded peers who understand and identify with the challenges of being a gifted young person. They find a home within our close-knit community, supported by a staff with a deep understanding of gifted education and the needs of gifted adolescents. Along with our focus on providing a challenging academic experience for our students, we also work hard to build nurturing relationships and lifelong friendships between our students, staff, and parent community.

The Herberger Young Scholars Academy community is grateful for the hard work, dedication and generosity of Gary and Jeanne Herberger. Our unique partnership with Arizona State University, along with a world class faculty of highly skilled teachers, and a caring and supportive parent community, create learning opportunities oriented to the specific needs of highly gifted children. If you are a parent of a highly gifted student, or simply want to learn more about what we do, we hope you will accept our invitation to visit us for a tour of our campus and learn more about what makes us a unique school with unique opportunities for unique learners.

Warmly,
