Mrs. Mendoza is a native Arizonan and lifelong learner. She has her B.S. in Elementary Education with an emphasis in English from Northern Arizona University and her Master's in Interdisciplinary Studies from ASU. Mrs. Mendoza's previous teaching experience was in the Paradise Valley Unified School District as both a regular classroom teacher and a gifted cohort teacher. At HYSA, she co-teaches the Secondary One Middle Years program and teaches AS and A Level English Language.
Her interests as an educator lie in helping students to recognize and wield the power of language as a tool for self discovery and social impact. She enjoys using technology to help students connect to language, literature, and each other.
Outside of school, Mrs. Mendoza loves trail running, delving into a new book (or three), and spending time with her husband and two young daughters. She is honored and excited to be a part of the community of learners at the Herberger Young Scholars Academy.
