Mrs. Baker has spent 30 years in the field of education focusing on her passion, helping every student reach their potential. During her career she has taught a wide variety of subjects and grade levels including special education, elementary education, high school English, middle school Language Arts and Social Studies, gifted pull-out and gifted self-contained. Mrs. Baker helped to implement the gifted self-contained program in the Scottsdale Unified School District, being the first teacher. She also worked as a counselor for the same program. Along with teaching she does professional development for school districts in metropolitan Phoenix in the areas of writing and gifted education.
At the Herberger Academy her job as counselor covers a wide range of responsibilities including, “What’s Young Passion”, administration of the Kolbe Index, identifying and implementing special assistance for individual students, organizing camp at Saguaro Lake, and sponsoring the National Honor Society.
Mrs. Baker earned a BS in Special Education and Elementary Education from the University of Arizona, an MS as a Reading Specialist from the University of Arizona and an Education Counseling degree from the University of Phoenix.
Her many passions outside of teaching include traveling, hiking, cooking, cycling, reading and her newest passion, golf. She prides herself on being a life long learner.
